Get well soon, Spencer
By Ralph Gowling
SPENCER DAVIS has been battling to overcome health problems in the hope he can perform on the Ultimate Rhythm and Blues 50th Anniversary Tour starting in January, John Steel of The Animals told the beat.
“Poor Spencer. We’ve got fingers crossed hoping that he is going to be okay for the tour, but we can’t be absolutely certain,” said John.
“He’s been having an awful lot of trouble over the past three years or so with a hernia condition and every time he calls to say he is going to be ready there is a setback.”
The Animals have been backing Spencer for some time and John described it as a “great combination”.
The “backstage buzz” picked up by The Beat is that Dave Berry will take Spencer’s place on the tour if the “Keep On Running” and “Gimme Some Lovin’ ” star can’t make the tour, which also also features The Yardbirds, The Zombies and Maggie Bell.
