I recently went to see a show called ‘The Billy Fury Years’ at the Orchard Theatre, in Dartford, Kent, and it was absolutely sensational and totally out of this world…
The name of the guy who portrayed Billy Fury is Michael King, and he is a performer of outstanding brilliance. I loved every minute of the show and was completely enthralled from beginning to end.
His performance was utterly spell-binding. It was a truly magical evening and an honour and a privilege to be part of the audience and to share this sublime theatrical experience.
It is, without doubt, the best tribute act I’ve ever seen in my entire life, and I’ve seen loads of them as I am an avid theatre-goer and a great fan of sixties music.
The show is meticulously well-researched, extremely accurate, immaculately presented, and pays great attention to detail. Michael King’s outfits are stunning and exactly match the film footage behind him which is of the real Billy Fury.
He is an exceptionally good mover and has a rich powerful voice which is, at the same time, soft and gentle, and he captures the poignancy, pathos, and emotion of Billy’s songs – as well as his mannerisms and gestures – to perfection.
His performance is thrilling and exciting, as well as energetic and dynamic. Above all, he has the most incredible charisma and lights up the whole stage with his wonderful personality and delightful sense of humour. He has a superb rapport with the audience and had them in the palm of his hand.
He is also very respectful and is a credit to the memory of the great Billy Fury, and to the world of show-biz in general. He is one of the most talented performers to ever grace a stage and has star quality in abundance.
The Orchard Theatre was a complete sell-out and Michael King received rapturous applause and a richly deserved standing ovation. I had the pleasure of meeting him after the show and he was incredibly modest and unassuming, and one of the most charming performers I’ve ever met in all my years of theatre-going. He is a real diamond and Simply the Best!
