Warm welcome back for Chip
By Lesley Dunn
CHIP HAWKES is back and his determination has driven him to return with a polished, powerful and impassioned performance.
On November 8, at The Cliffs Theatre, Southend, Essex, he had crowds on their feet dancing, and we could see he was clearly enjoying himself. Brian Poole and Chip, both of whom were front men for The Tremeloes, were on the Sixties Gold Tour and made a great combination singing their hits from the 60s.
Not only did Chip sound fantastic but he looked amazing too: not bad for a man who was so poorly last year, and it made these moments all the more special.
Also on tour with the guys were Gerry and the Pacemakers, The Searchers, PJ Proby and The Fortunes who were all on top form.
A brilliant evening with a great line up all celebrating their 50th anniversary.
At the end Chip and Brian were waiting to see everyone and stopped for a chat and photos. I bought their new DVD which is great, all about the guys reminiscing over the last 50 years, which includes chat and music from the two eras of The Tremelos. Great, not just for Tremelos fans but if you want an insight of the early days for all groups.
